Evidence-Based Techniques

As part of our Integrative Behavioral Health component, VeraVia clients are introduced to topics of stress resiliency and strategies to better manage stress. They are invited to experience Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) techniques, as well Biofeedback training. These modalities increase mindfulness and support long-lasting improvements in both physical and psychological wellbeing.

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction: MBSR techniques of guided meditation, mindful awareness of breathing, and mindful eating, are all incorporated during the program. Clients also participate in restorative yoga and are encouraged to journal throughout their stay. These MBSR techniques have a positive effect on the autonomic nervous system, and lead to greater stress resiliency, increased self-compassion, lower blood pressure, and effect brain wave patterns related to focusing attention.

Biofeedback: Biofeedback is a non-invasive tool that provides clients with real time physiological feedback as they learn to activate their natural relaxation response. Biofeedback clients report successful decrease in chronic pain, including migraine headaches, decreased anxiety, and improved sleep quality. Doctors Specializing In Natural Foot Health

Our Naturopathic Doctor is an expert in natural foot health and we have had great success helping guests to get back into a fitness routine after suffering from foot related pain issues. This natural approach helps our clients understand that their foot isn¹t the problem. We teach the clients about natural foot anatomy and how aspects of their footwear and gait may be contributing to dysfunctional biomechanics. This approach allows for a conservative, corrective and restorative approach to many conditions that are typically treated with surgery or steroid injections.

A natural foot health consultation typically will involve a history of the complaint, physical examination of the foot and limb and treatment often including soft tissue massage, manipulation, low level laser therapy, correction of dysfunctional foot anatomy and education on how to implement a more natural gait including shoe fitting, stretches and at-home exercises.

Many clients report a significant and long lasting reduction in foot and leg pain and improved balance and stability, all without surgery or drugs!

Arlene Sandoval is a San Diego native with over fifteen years of professional
experience working alongside C-level executives in major corporations in the San Diego
area. Arlene was mentored and trained by top-level executives at two major Fortune
500 companies. She was offered an executive-level position when she was twenty-five,
making her the youngest person offered the International Executive Communications
Position. By twenty-eight, Arlene felt pulled toward the non-profit sector and became
Chief Operation Officer of an International non-profit with a focus on social justice
reform and media; helping to build communities of hope in war-torn countries. Arlene
helped restructure, create, and manage a multi-million dollar budget. She created new
policies and procedures to help the corporation comply with California 501(c)3 non-profit
laws and regulations. During this time she gained invaluable knowledge in the private
and public sectors.
