Q: What do I need to pack?

A: Your fitness retreat will be like a typical vacation in a warm sunny climate, just with more fitness activities.  Our suggested packing list includes:

  • Exercise clothes (bring layers according to season)
  • Hat or sun visor
  • Athletic / running shoes
  • Athletic socks
  • Clothing for nights and weekends (based on current seasonal temperatures)
  • Swimsuit

  • Hiking boots or trail walking shoes

Q: What is a typical day at VeraVia?

A: Your day will include a carefully designed integration Body-Mind-Spirit activities, including exercises, stretching, nutrition, yoga, group workshops, educational sessions, personal counseling sessions, personal reflection, group support discussions, and restful sleep.

Q: Are taxes, fees and gratuities included in the cost?

A: All hotel and resort fees are included. Taxes and gratuities are not included.

Q: Can I bring my family?

A: Couples can attend the program together (see pricing for shared room accommodations). Family members not participating in the program can visit or stay in the resort with access to full resort amenities.

Q: How do I know if I can participate in the activities?

A: Our guests come from a large range of age and fitness lifestyles.  Prior to your arrival, we will email you a health and lifestyle survey to complete and return before your stay.  Our team of experts will review your responses and tailor all activities according to your capabilities.  If we have any concerns we will contact you before your stay.

Q: What will the weather be like during different seasons?

A: San Diego is an extremely favorable climate for enjoying the outdoors year round.  The climate is generally temperate and mild although we do experience seasonal weather.  In the winter and early spring months, daytime temperatures can range from the mid 50’s to mid 70’s, and some evenings can be cool with temperatures as low as the mid 40’s.  Late spring, summer, and early fall months have daytime temperatures ranging from mid 60’s to mid to high 80’s.  Evening temperatures during these months are more mild, from mid 60‘s to 70‘s.  When daytime temperatures are high, our outdoor exercises are coordinated around peak temperature times.

Q: What if I have never exercised, done yoga or hiking?

A: We always have a capable trainer at each group exercise class and he or she will help guide you to perform at your level.  Our classes are not military style “boot camps”.  Our team is supporting, motivating and nurturing and are experienced in teaching people at all levels of fitness and will adapt our program to the intensity level best for each individual.

Q: Can I choose which activities and classes I want to participate in?

A: While our program is customized for each individual to address their specific goals, our fitness and weight loss retreat itself is a highly structured, no options program that has been specifically designed for optimal results to treat the entire person, body, mind and spirit.

Q: What if I get hurt?

A: The safety of our guests is a top priority and our program is designed for maximum SAFE results.  Our exercises are tailored to each individuals fitness level and are generally low-impact activities.  However accidents do happen, and should anything out of the ordinary occur our on staff Doctors are trained to handle most acute injuries.  All of our trainers are certified in CPR and proper exercise technique.

Q: What kind of results will I get?

A: Just as each person’s physiology, metabolism, and general health is different, guests will experience different results based on their current fitness levels and length of stay.  Most of our guests do experience substantial results including losing a few pounds of fat per week, adding some lean muscle mass, detoxing their body with our healthy organic nutrition program, and rejuvenating their mental clarity and spirit.  Guests also experience improvements in their cholesterol levels, blood pressure, triglycerides, and other key health markers.  Those that follow our personal After-Care plan will see continued drop in weight and inches.

Q: What if I do not want to lose weight?

A: Not all of our guests are looking to lose weight.  Some are looking just to improve their current fitness levels while also gaining important life wellness skills to help them manage their day to day quality of life.  Since our program is dedicated to staying on the cutting edge of health and fitness, our activities and workshops are always changing, so we have many guests that choose to return to our program to help them push their results to the next level.

Q: Will I be able to check in with my family and business?

A: Yes, during your stay you will have opportunities during the day to check in.  Our resort also has a complete business center, complete with free wi-fi to accommodate your needs.

Q: Is transportation included?

A: No, transportation is not included. We do have guest-preferred special rates for transportation, which we are happy to arrange for you.

Q: If I arrive the day before the program starts, where should I stay?

A: We can arrange for accommodations at our resort.  Once your program starts then all accommodations and meals are then included in the cost.

Q: Can you accommodate special diets?

A: Vegetarians and other special dietary needs can be easily accommodated.  Special needs can be requested during your registration.

Q: What is the typical age of your guest?

A: The age range of our guests is extremely varied and our programs are designed to accommodate all age ranges.

Q: Will it feel awkward going to a resort by myself?

A: Our program provides a close community feel as our guests perform the activities in groups and will quickly form a bond as they share common goals and struggles.  We can accommodate double rooms for guests that prefer to share a room.

Q: Are children allowed to participate in the program?

A: Our minimum age to participate in the program is 18.  Children are welcome to stay with other family at our resort during your participation in the program.
